Oxford Dictionaries has added some new words to the English language and a surprise entry is a word that it credits Eminem for bringing to the forefront.

The word ‘stan’ has found a place in Oxford’s latest edition and Eminem can take all the credit for its inclusion.

The official Oxford description for the word is: “Stan – noun: An overzealous or obsessive fan of a particular celebrity.”

And there’s an sentence example where the word is being used:  ‘He has millions of stans who are obsessed with him and call him a rap god.’ So there we go.

The word can also be used as a verb as this sample sentence shows:  ‘I admit I used to stan for Mariah when I was eight.’

And here’s the official acknowledgement for the Rap word: “Early 21st century: probably with allusion to the 2000 song ‘Stan’ by the American rapper Eminem, about an obsessed fan.

Eminem has add in this unique achievement to his already enviable list which includes many plantinum-selling albums and more.
