Chester Bennington’s wife has shared a video of the late singer hours before he committed suicide to show people what “depression looks like”.
In the 40-seconds long video, The Linking Park main singer is seen having fun with his family and friends while eating sour candies.
He took his own life on July 20th, 36 hours after the video was recorded.
Before she posted the memorable video, she tweeted:
My next tweet is the most personal tweet I have ever done. I’m showing this so that you know that depression doesn’t have a face or a mood.
In the next post, Ms. Bennington wrote:
This is what depression looked like to us just 36 hrs b4 his death. He loved us SO much & we loved him. #fuckdepression #MakeChesterProud pic.twitter.com/VW44eOER4k

Ever since she used those two hashtags, she tried to create an online community to support people who suffer from depression, like her husband did.
She uploaded the video just after their son, Draven Bennington released three videos for the National Suicide Prevention Week.
“He was really good at hiding it. I saw him a week before and I would not be able to tell one thing that was different,” Draven said.
“I thought everything was going great.”
Draven believes his father had planned his suicide a week prior. Chester had messaged his son asking to spend some time together, one week before he committed suicide.
“I want to make a commitment that I will talk to someone before I hurt myself when I’m feeling depressed, sad or going through a hard week, month or year.”, he wrote.
Chester Bennington took his own life on July 20, 2017, at his home in Palos Verdes Estates, California. His housekeeper was the first to find out about his death. He committed suicide with a half-empty bottle of alcohol near him. The rest of Linkin Parks then canceled their scheduled One More Light Tour.
Talinda Bennington expressed that her husband was now no longer struggling. “He was a bright, loving soul with an angel’s voice. And now he is pain-free, singing his songs in all of our hearts. May God bless us all and help us turn to one another when we are in pain. Chester would’ve wanted us to do so. Rest In Peace, my love.”, she said.
The Rock band singer’s death occurred just after 2 months his close friend, Chris Cornell committed suicide as well. He had taken his friend’s death very hard, writing on Instagram: “I can’t imagine a world without you in it“.
During Linkin Park’s performance honoring Chris Cornell, Chester got very emotional when the band performed One More Light in honor of the late singer.
The rest of the group has now stepped on its own feet once again. Linkin Park have announced a special show to tribute their lead singer, Chester Bennington. The celebration will take place at the Hollywood Bowlin Los Angeles on Friday, October 27.

Pre-sale for tickets begins Tuesday, September 19. On the other hand, tickets for the special show go on sale to the public on Friday, 22th of September 10 a.m (PT)
Chester’s death shocked millions across the world. It made us understand that no matter our income, success, material goods, depression doesn’t discriminate. It doesn’t matter how wealthy an individual is, or how successful he came to be in his life. Depression is an illness that can affect anyone given the right circumstances.
