Overwatch’s first competitive season is almost over and players will soon be getting their competitive points that can be used to purchase gold weapon skins.
Blizzard has announced that Season 1 will conclude on August 17th at 5:00pm PT however they have also confirmed that the next competitive season will begin in September. The date they provided for the start of Season 2 is September 6th however, this is only a provisional date and the Overwatch developers will announce a confirmed date at a later time.
The next season is going to see quite a few adjustments such as the removal of the sudden death rounds and the addition a draw; there is no information right now about if Blizzard intends to reward players with points for a draw.
Completing the placement matches will reward the player with a special player icon and spray which will be added to accounts after the season; in addition to this, players will receive Competitive Points in accordance to the maximum skill rating they attained. The CP can then be spent on purchasing gold weapon skins.
Here is the Skill Rating (SR) and Competitive Point (CP) list provided by Blizzard for this season:
• SR 0-39: 10 CPs
• SR 40-45: 20 CPs
• SR 46-49: 40 CPs
• SR 50-52: 60 CPs
• SR 53-55: 80 CPs
• SR 56-59: 120 CPs
• SR 60-64: 200 CPs
• SR 65+: 300 CPs
