A nurse working for a private hospital in north-eastern Thailand, has been forced to ‘resign’ from her job after a photograph she uploaded to a social networking website drew the ire of the management of the hospital.

Parichat Chatsri, 26, uploaded the picture of herself wearing a tight-fitting lilac uniform and short skirt. The image was considered “disrespectful’ by the management and they felt it showed off too much skin.

Many critics were of the opinion that the photo showed Chatsri dressing inappropriately and “disrespecting the nursing profession”.

This compelled the nurse to resign from her and also issue a public apology.

She said: “I explained to the board at the hospital but they have high regards for the hospital’s image.

“I understood them, and I didn’t want it to be a big deal. So I took responsibility by resigning.

“I’d like to apologise to the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council and the hospital. I don’t want the public to judge all nurses based on my image.”

She said that the decision was taken by her in order to preserve the dignity of her profession and the reputation of her former employers.

She added: “I do not want trouble. It happened and I was responsible. I need to improve myself.”
