In a recent interview with Kotaku, PlatinumGames co-founder Atsushi Inaba discussed possible future plans.
Of course, the topic of sequels came up. When asked if PlatinumGames would be interested in making a Metal Gear Rising 2, Inaba said “there is no title we don’t want to make a sequel for” and mentioned Bayonetta 3 and Vanquish 2 by name.
Some fans have hopefully jumped on this as a sign that these games will be made, but it’s important to keep in mind that Inaba didn’t confirm any such thing. He just said they want to make them, which shouldn’t be surprising.
However, when the interview turned to PC gaming and the possibility of Vanquish being released on the PC, Inaba said, “I wonder… If you stop recording, I can talk about that.”
Vanquish is a third-person shooter published by Sega and originally released in 2010 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It received good reviews despite its short length, and has a number of fans who would be delighted to see it ported or remastered.
While no such port or remaster has been announced yet, Inaba’s answer to the question suggests it’s a definite possibility rather than just a hope. And if a PC version of Vanquish is a success, who knows what could come next? Vanquish 2 might not be out of the question after all.
